Ayushman Bharat: India Issues Over 7.72 Lakh Health Cards
In a move that signifies a major stride towards universal healthcare, the Indian government has issued over 7.72 lakh Ayushman Bharat Health Cards, according to the Health Minister. This development comes as a part of the ambitious Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), colloquially known as Modicare, which seeks to provide essential health insurance to India's economically weaker sections.
With the scheme's focus on inclusivity, the Health Minister revealed plans to increase daily card distribution to 10 lakh. Currently, between 4 to 5 lakh cards are being issued each day.
