Karnataka's Shivakumar Criticises IPL Venue Shift to Gujarat
The decision to relocate the Indian Premier League (IPL) final from Bengaluru to Gujarat has raised eyebrows, with Karnataka's Chief Minister-designate D.K. Shivakumar openly criticising organisers for what he describes as a politically motivated move. Speaking candidly to reporters, Shivakumar lamented the shift, suggesting that his state had been sidelined unfairly.
"The IPL final match should have happened in Bengaluru," he asserted. "Injustice has been done to us. Due to politics, they held it at a different venue." His remarks allude to a broader narrative of regional rivalries and political manoeuvring overshadowing sporting events in India.
Bengaluru's Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had shown remarkable form throughout the season, maintaining the momentum that saw them reaching their fifth IPL final.
