Mansukh Mandaviya Ushers in New Era with Shillong Sports Complex
In a significant boost to Meghalaya's sporting capabilities, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya today unveiled the Integrated Multipurpose Sports Complex in Shillong. The ceremony, graced by Meghalaya's Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, took place amidst much fanfare and marked a critical milestone in the state's efforts to bolster its sports infrastructure.
The newly inaugurated facility, nestled within the J N Sports Complex, is equipped to host an array of indoor sports including basketball, badminton, and volleyball. This development is not merely a nod to enhancing physical infrastructure but also a testament to the state's ambition to nurture local talent and host national-level competitions.
Minister Mandaviya, during his address, emphasised the importance of sports as a vehicle for youth empowerment and societal growth. "This complex represents more than just bricks and mortar. It is an investment in the future of our youth, a stepping stone towards greater sporting achievements," he remarked.

The inauguration coincided with the signing of the Host State Agreement for the 39th National Games, set to be held in Meghalaya in 2027. This dual announcement underscores a strategic vision for the region, aiming to position it as a hub for sporting excellence.
Chief Minister Sangma highlighted the long-term benefits, stating, "By hosting the National Games, we are not only putting Meghalaya on the sporting map but also inspiring a new generation to pursue sports professionally."
