The political arena in India has been shaken by an unexpected remark from Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. During a recent meeting of the opposition INDIA bloc, Gandhi declared he would not be embracing Pinarayi Vijayan, the former Chief Minister of Kerala. The CPI(M) was quick to respond, with General Secretary M A Baby openly criticising Gandhi's approach. "Such statements do not strengthen the alliance; they only serve to fracture it," Baby remarked, emphasising that petty rivalries must be set aside for the greater good. The Left parties, traditionally aligned with the Congress in their opposition to the BJP, view such discord as detrimental to their collective efforts.
The controversy highlights the fragile nature of the INDIA bloc, an alliance formed to present a united front against the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). With elections looming, this internal discord could undermine the coalition's credibility and effectiveness.
