These delicate foil amulets, found at the archaeological site of Marina El Alamein, are believed to have been placed within the mouths of the deceased, to enable them to speak in the afterlife.
The discovery, announced by Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, shines a light on the intricate beliefs surrounding the journey to the afterlife in ancient Egyptian culture. The site, known as ancient Leukaspis, has yielded 18 tombs dating back to the Ptolemaic and Roman periods, a testament to the area's rich historical tapestry.
