Yoga Day Celebrations Highlight Benefits of Healthy Ageing
On a day when the world folds into meditative postures, ministries around the globe have put a spotlight on the theme 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing' during the 12th International Day of Yoga. Recognising the timeless benefits of yoga, the initiative aims to foster a lifelong practice that supports ageing with grace and vitality.
This year's theme couldn't have been more pertinent. With populations ageing across continents, the focus on healthy ageing through yoga underscores a commitment to enhancing quality of life. The Ministry of Health, in collaboration with various organisations, launched the 'Yoga 365' initiative, encouraging people to integrate yoga into their daily routines throughout the year.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh, speaking at a Yoga Day event, emphasised the pivotal role yoga plays in India's Vision 2047. He highlighted how the practice not only improves physical health but also sharpens mental acuity and fosters emotional balance. 'Incorporating yoga into our daily lives is not merely about flexibility and strength; it's about preparing our bodies and minds for the years ahead,' he noted.
The global celebration also witnessed mass yoga sessions, such as the one at Lumbini Gate in Bhairahawa, which drew enthusiasts from all walks of life. These gatherings serve as a testament to yoga's universal appeal and its capacity to unite people in pursuit of holistic well-being.
As the world grapples with the challenges of an ageing population, the message of 'Yoga for Healthy Ageing' is both timely and necessary. It serves as a gentle reminder that the journey to ageing gracefully begins with a single breath, a simple pose, and the enduring commitment to one's health and wellness.
