Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on a visit to Jhargram, was photographed enjoying a popular local treat, jhalmuri. This seemingly innocuous act has set tongues wagging and pundits pondering, as it is seen as part of the Bharatiya Janata Party's broader strategy to connect with the Bengali populace.
Jhalmuri, a spicy puffed rice snack, is a staple of Bengali street food, and Modi's indulgence in it was no mere culinary curiosity. It was a calculated move to strike a cultural chord, portraying him as an everyman who appreciates regional flavours.
