FIFA Workshop in Delhi: Aiming to Uplift Amateur Football
In the heart of New Delhi, amidst the monsoon's unpredictable showers, a gathering of football enthusiasts, officials, and experts took place for a purpose that could alter the future of amateur football in India. The two-day FIFA Amateur Football Environment Analysis (AFEA) workshop, held in collaboration with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), concluded with a renewed commitment to invigorate the grassroots of the sport.
Leading the charge were Chokey Nima, FIFA's Regional Technical Consultant for South Asia, and Javier Sánchez, the organisation's Amateur Football Analysis Manager. Together, they provided insights into the myriad challenges and opportunities that lie in developing India's amateur football landscape.
Fostering Grassroots Development
The primary focus of the workshop was to evaluate the current environment of amateur football and to lay down a roadmap for its sustainable growth. Discussions delved into infrastructure inadequacies, the need for better coaching standards, and the importance of inclusivity, ensuring that the sport is accessible to all strata of society.
