Maharashtra Launches Inquiry into Moshi Waste Collapse Tragedy
The Moshi waste mound collapse, an incident that has left nine dead and several others trapped, has prompted the Maharashtra government to establish a high-level inquiry panel. The newly formed panel includes D.N. Singh from IIT Bombay's Department of Geotechnical Engineering and Professor Anilkumar Dixit, an expert in environmental and solid waste management. The Assistant Commissioner of PCMC's Disaster Management Department will serve as the Member Secretary, underscoring the seriousness with which the government is treating this tragedy.

Initial findings suggest that improper management of the waste-to-energy plant, operated by Antony Lara Renewable Energy Ltd, may have played a role. Notices have been issued to both the PCMC’s Environment Department and the contractor, demanding explanations.
