PM Modi Highlights Progress in Women's Empowerment Under NDA

In a stirring address, Prime Minister Narendra Modi proclaimed that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government has successfully crafted an environment where women can realise their full potential. His remarks, delivered at a prominent event, emphasise the strides made in women's empowerment during his tenure.

Modi highlighted a series of government initiatives designed to empower women, including increased access to education, improved healthcare, and support for female entrepreneurship. He noted that these efforts are beginning to bear fruit, as women across India are increasingly stepping into leadership roles in various sectors.

Empowering Through Education and Entrepreneurship

Education remains a cornerstone of the government's strategy. The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme, launched in 2015, aims to improve the welfare of girls by ensuring their education and survival. According to government data, the programme has contributed to a rise in female literacy rates, particularly in rural areas.

Furthermore, the Mudra Yojana, which provides financial support to small businesses, has seen significant uptake among women. Modi asserted that over 70 per cent of Mudra loan beneficiaries are women, enabling them to start and expand their businesses, thereby fostering economic independence.

A Continuing Debate on Gender Equality

While the government celebrates these achievements, critics argue that more needs to be done to address deep-rooted societal norms that hinder gender equality. Issues such as gender-based violence and pay disparity remain prevalent, necessitating a broader cultural shift alongside policy measures.

Nonetheless, Modi's remarks underscore the government's commitment to advancing women's rights and the importance of creating supportive environments for women to thrive. The debate over the effectiveness of these policies continues, but the focus on women's empowerment remains a central theme in India's developmental narrative.
