Nadda Praises SARATHI Volunteers During PGIMER Visit in Chandigarh

In a vibrant tableau of healthcare advancements, BJP President J.P. Nadda recently visited the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh. Amidst the flurry of new infrastructure inaugurations, valued at nearly Rs 1,200 crore, Nadda took a moment to appreciate the unsung heroes of the hospital: the volunteers of the SARATHI programme.

The SARATHI (Students' Alliance for Responsible Action to Transform Healthcare Institutes) initiative, a cornerstone in PGIMER's patient-centric approach, has been instrumental in assisting patients and their families navigate the often overwhelming hospital environment. Nadda commended these volunteers for their dedication and selflessness, noting that their efforts significantly enhance the patient experience.

While the Prime Minister's announcement of a new MBBS college at PGIMER promises to bolster medical education, the SARATHI volunteers represent the heart and soul of the institute's community efforts. This programme, along with the impending launch of a navigation app, seeks to streamline patient movements within the sprawling hospital campus.

Healthcare Expansion

The Prime Minister's commitment to healthcare in the region was underscored by the recent projects inaugurated at PGIMER. These infrastructures are expected to elevate the quality of healthcare services and increase accessibility for thousands of patients. The institute's Rural and Urban Health Training Centres have already made a significant impact, with over 66,000 patients benefiting from their services.

Furthermore, PGIMER's adoption of six villages and the organisation of 547 mobile medical camps highlight its proactive approach in extending healthcare to rural areas. The Ayushman Arogya Mandirs, expanding primary healthcare access, are another testament to this commitment.

A Bright Future

As PGIMER continues to evolve, the integration of modern facilities and community-driven programmes like SARATHI ensures that it remains at the forefront of medical education and patient care in India. The new MBBS college is set to open its doors soon, welcoming a fresh cohort of aspiring doctors, ready to contribute to the nation's healthcare landscape.

Nadda's visit not only highlighted these advancements but also celebrated the spirit of volunteerism that drives the SARATHI programme, encapsulating the essence of community service in healthcare.
