New Frog Species Discovered in Nagaland's Cascades
The misty hills of Nagaland have once again revealed a hidden gem. Nestled in the tranquil cascades of Kiphire district, scientists have discovered a new species of frog, now named Amolops kamal. The frog, affectionately known as the Nagaland cascade frog, was found near Singrep village during a field survey by the Zoological Survey of India in August 2024. The naming honours Kamal Choudhury, a revered teacher whose influence evidently lingers in the academic corridors of Guwahati's B. Barooah College.
